Westpac Banking: 01/10/2022 Westpac Provides Emergency Assistance to Customers Affected by Queensland Floods

Westpac will provide emergency assistance to customers affected by flooding in Maryborough and surrounding areas of Queensland.

Ross Miller, Director of Customer Engagement, said: “Westpac and St. George have teams of customers ready to help those in need of financial assistance following the flooding that has plagued the area in recent days.

“We know the flooding caused damage to homes and businesses as a result of heavy rainfall over the weekend. We want our clients to know that there is a range of tailored assistance options to help them get back on their feet, including home and business loan deferrals. and emergency assistance by credit card.

“We know these situations create a lot of stress and uncertainty for households and businesses. We want our customers to know that we are only a phone call away if they need our help,” said Mr. Miller.

Emergency assistance available:

  • Customers affected with Westpac home loans can request to defer repayments for up to three months.

  • Affected credit card customers can request a deferral of refunds on their card for up to 90 days.

  • Affected customers wishing to purchase replacement goods can apply for a personal loan at a reduced interest rate with no set-up fees.

  • Westpac will forgo interest rate adjustments for affected customers wishing to withdraw term deposits.

  • Affected customers in difficulty may also be offered a suspension of all accrued interest on unsecured credit products for a period of up to three months.

  • Customers affected with Westpac commercial loans can request a deferral of repayment for up to three months.

  • Businesses affected with existing loans can apply for a loan restructuring without incurring the usual banking establishment costs.

  • Affected business customers with merchant facilities are eligible to receive support, including monthly terminal access fee waivers for up to three months.

  • Westpac consumer customers can apply in line or call Westpac Assist on 1800 067 497. Business customers requiring assistance can contact their account manager or call Westpac Assist on 1800 067 497.

  • St. George’s consumer customers can apply in line or call St. George Assist at 1800 629 795. Business customers who require assistance can contact their Relationship Manager or call St. George Assist at 1800 629 795.
