Forward Danny Cashman has joined Rochdale AFC on a one-season loan.
The 20-year-old comes from Coventry City, where he just signed a three-year contract, after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this summer.
“It’s been a long wait and I can’t wait to start now,” Cashman said.
“This is something that me and my agent thought was a great project to get involved in. The club fell last year but hopefully we can push for promotion this year.
“I sat down [with manager Robbie Stockdale] and discussed where he sees me playing and what I can bring to the team.
“Everything is about how I want to be as a footballer and how I want to play. It makes me want to push myself even more and help bring the club to where it should be.
Dale manager Robbie Stockdale said: “It has been a bit more complicated with Danny leaving Brighton and signing for Coventry, before loaning him out, so the process has been a bit longer than usual.
“He has been training with us for a few days and his quality is really good. He’s a smart player and he has a small advantage, but in a good way.
“He was desperate to come and play for us. This is another very good addition to the squad and it will add further competition for the places up front.
Cashman joined Brighton Academy at the age of 12, progressing to the Under-18 and Under-23 teams.
He was a regular at their Premier League 2 side in recent seasons, scoring 11 times and making 11 more in 35 appearances.
After leaving AMEX stadium this summer, he signed for Coventry on a three-year contract, the first of which will be spent with Dale.
