Pioli happy with midfielders but admits ‘January emergency’ awaits him
Lately all AC Milan midfielders have been playing very well and Stefano Pioli is of course happy with the situation. But it will soon become much more difficult, two of them leaving for the CAN.
Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie will participate in the tournament for Algeria respectively Côte d’Ivoire. It will take place between January and February and they will certainly miss at least a handful of games, which is not ideal.
Pioli will rely on Sandro Tonali and Tiemopue Bakayoko as remaining midfielders, while Rade Krunic can only play in this position. While today’s presser, he broached the subject and admitted it would be an emergency in January.
“Bakayoko? He is much better, he had some difficulties at the start because he arrived in less than optimal condition. He has verticality, physicality, he is strong. It is clear that in the middle of the field I can choose easily, I have great players. Between now and January there are still a lot of matches left, so we will also be ready to deal with the January emergency, âhe said.
It remains to be seen whether Milan will do anything in the market to remedy, perhaps by bringing Yacine Adli back from his loan at Bordeaux early. It’s also possible, however, that they might get along with the aforementioned trio for these games.
